Blog Post Published from Google Docs!

This blog post was written in Google Docs and then "published" right here on the Boles University blog – powered by Blogger -- from Google Docs!

How can that sort of seamless interaction between powerful online document authoring program and strong blog publishing platform be exploited to create the best end user experience on all sides for online learning and education?

Let me know if Blogger is responsive on your end. Do you have to wait a long time for pages to load? Do comments work well or not?

Ok, David, this page loaded as usual - checked all the links...its working fine!

Waiting for the 'Highly Classified'! :-)

Hi Katha!

Thanks for the comment!

So my other websites all loaded okay for you?

Did the sites load fast enough?

Were you able to see all the images on all the pages?

What browser are you using and are you at home or at school?

Kathakali said...

Yes, all other links in the side (if those you meant) loaded perfect.

This site is loading without a hitch...

I am at home using my regular connection.

Thanks for the help testing, Katha! I am very happy to know the sites are loading okay.

http://scriptprofessor.com seems especially wonky in not wanting to load all the images for me.

Are you clearing your cache each time you test the pages?

Kathakali said...

Everything is loading fine, even "Script Professor" - its just taking a second..

Boles University said...

Okay, great, Katha.

You're using SHIFT+REFRESH/RELOAD to test this, right?

Kathakali said...

Oh...and I didn't have to clear the cache

Kathakali said...

No, I am just clicking the link -

I am not sure if that's what you wanted know

Katha!

I want and need you to clear the cache because otherwise you're loading stuff already stored locally on computer.

Kathakali said...

Ok, I signed off and then came back to test, cleared the cache every time - it's loading like any other site of yours.

Hi David,

Are you hosting your blog on your own server, or are you using a blogger server? I use blogger for my blogs and find that it works pretty well -- but I've also run into time when the blog wouldn't update or pictures would upload, etc. I wonder if those problems are being fixed with the new beta version. (I tried switching over, but it doesn't work for my self-hosted blogs yet).

Hello, David. Every link loaded quickly and perfectly. I'm on a 3 year old Dell desktop, using Verizon DSL and a Firefox browser.

Hi Chris!

Yes, everything is hosted right here on Blogger. I thought about going the FTP route but decided to just see how well the new Blogger out of Beta worked.

I did have a problem with the system not liking the Boles University logo in .PNG format. That image file was visible in setup but it never appeared live after upload. Blogger seems to prefer images that are hosted elsewhere and called than being uploaded to the service.

I don't like you can't delete files once you upload them to Blogger for hosting. That's sort of rotten.

Changing the Boles University logo file to a .JPG version resolved the matter for me.

Thank you for the help, Shirley!

I'm still getting broken images on my end.

I've reported the matter to Mosso.

I've been hosted on the web since '94 and never had broken images like this before.

Chris --

Have you visited the main Blogger.com website? Doesn't it offer you two choices for logging in and converting your current sites?

Chris said...

Hi David,

I log in the old way. I also have a log-in via the new way as well.

I'll have to see if there's another way to transfer the old blog to the new system since the automatic transfer didn't work.

Hi David,

Here's the link with the explanation of why my blogs can't be transferred when I try to switch:

Thanks for the link, Chris! I remember reading that a while back but I thought by now everyone would've certainly be moved.
